Influences

Over the years I have had loads of influences on my music, from Dj’s such as Pete Tong and Erick Morillo through to the likes in old days from people such as Sasha and Tiesto through to my favourite ever DJ, Roger Sanchez!! (It’s all about the Bosh when you go to see Sanchez!!)

A Bit About Me!

I have been DJ’ing out & about for just over 5 Years (I began when I was still 17…).  The first Set of turntables I purchased were a basic pair of Direct Drive Turntables and a Citronic Mixer, when I was the young age of 15…. Bearing that in mind I have been mixing at home for nine years now (still clanging some of those mixes though hahaha!!) I have recently invested in a pair of Pioneer CD1000’s which have given me  great pleasure as I no longer get back-ache from carrying all of those records!! At home I also own a pair of Technics 1200 turntables and a Pioneer 600 Mixer.  (Better than most clubs may I add….)

To be fair though, Vinyl is where my heart is.  I am currently a buyer at the world famous, Hard To Find Records in Birmingham City Centre. www.htfr.com . At HTFR I am responsible for the majority of Imported Vinyl, most recently being responsible for the HUGE David Guetta release “Love Is gone”, on Virgin France.  I also write the HTFR weekly Dance Update, which goes out in HTML format once a week on Fridays, I am also the HTFR representative on the Cool Cuts Shop Panel!! I have worked at HTFR for almost four years now, so it’s all going well!!

However before life at HTFR I began my musical upbringing at Three Shades Records!! I used to have a Saturday Job (Later almost full time lol) where I worked with some of Birminghams biggest Producers/Dj’s… including Paul Thomas (Godskitchen) and Adam Walder (Funkagenda). I also met some great friends who I still hang about with to this day, including old Gaz Wilcox hahaha

Anyway onto more recent tidings, I am currently resident at WS1 Nightclub in Walsall, which has actually been my longest standing residency (outlasting even my Revolution Residencies!!). It’s been a fair old trial these last few years, with lots of changes to styles of music, here and there but at WS1 I am known for my almost-cutting edge house music on Thursday Nights on the top floor. Here I have attempted to play something a bit different whilst still catering to everbodys tastes!!

As you can read above in my previous DJ Employment, I have enjoyed a number of guest slots at different venues over the years, even in different countries!! I have been very grateful for all the experience I have gained by working at places such as Hed Kandi in Marbella and also doing the Garlands gig. But better times have ultimately come from the regular residencies that I have been given the opportunity of doing locally at places such as WS1. I have made a lot of friends over the years that I can honestly say that without them I don’t know where my life would be now!! Most notably these people have been the likes of DJ QT, JB, Martin Taylor and the old faithful Bar Staff from places like WS1 and Revolution!!

For me Music has been always been at the forefront of my life, whether it was spending my entire weekly wage on Records or spending hours in my bedroom listening to my tunes… All I have wanted to do is play music I like to like-minded people!!

My Top Five Favourite Tunes at the moment!!

  1. David Guetta - Love Is Gone
  2. Bart B More - So It Goes
  3. The Migrants - I Thought That (Boris Dlugosch Mix)
  4. Mark Knight - Party Animal
  5. The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides In The Deep

My DJ Pet-Hates

People that can’t have a good time when they come out
(Why bother leaving the house I say!!)

Close-minded people who aren’t open to new tunes and just want OLD SKOOL Constantly!! Grrrrrr!

Also DJ’s that don’t understand song structure, okay we know you can mix but please mix on a bar at least hahahaha

My Future Aims

For me the future is all about getting into producing more tunes with my pal, Ian Round.  Recently we released a Mash Up that sold out across the globe … Not mentioning any Monkeys…. Or sweeping the yard… hahaha I also want to get more DJ residencies, whilst keeping my buying job at Hard To Find Records. Eventually I want to settle down properly, get a wife etc but first there is a lot more house music to be danced to and of course a lot of Vodka to be drunk!!

A little known fact:

A few years ago I completed an Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music (Creating Music Through Technology) Course!
